Nordson Corporation has achieved Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for its headquarters in Westlake, Ohio. The 28,000 square-foot facility was opened in November 2010 and incorporates a number of significant green building technologies. Environmentally friendly features include energy optimised lighting, HVAC and water systems, a partial green roof planted with native vegetation, a parking lot and landscape design that mitigates storm water generation, reflective white roofing materials that reduce heat island effects and regionally sourced and recycled construction materials. “Beyond providing a payback on the investment made in the systems, the choice of high efficiency equipment and enhanced design is a tangible representation of Nordson’s dedication not only the environment, but also local communities,” said Ronald A. Cocco, president od Clark & Post Architects, which designed the building for Nordson. Nordson manufactures and systems used for dispensing, fluid management, testung and inspection, UV curing and plasma surface treatment In addition to nonwovens, the industries it supplies them to include packaging, electronics, medical, energy, transportation, construction and general product assembly and finishing. |
