Teijin Aramid’s recycling programme claimed joint-first prize in the 2012 Responsible Care Award run by the Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI).

Since 2004 the company has invested significantly in the infrastructure to reduce aramid waste and to recycle Twaron aramid fibers. In 2011 it received a TüV-certificate for Twaron Pulp 0701 – the first product entirely based on recycled aramid fibres.

The Responsible Care Award is presented annually by the VNCI to enterprises in the chemical industry deemed to have excelled in the field of safety, health, environment and sustainability.

The judges opined that Teijin Aramid had illustrated that recycling Twaron aramid fibers was possible on a global level and that it was able to supply a quality product with a 50% decrease in CO2-footprint.

At present, 50% of the raw materials used in the Teijin Aramid Pulp factory in Arnhem originate from recycled aramid.

Within the recycling programme, customers are supported to reduce or further process their waste materials. Waste materials that cannot be further processed and from end products is collected for reprocessing.
