Bostik opens new plant in Egypt

Bostik’s Global Nonwovens business unit is the latest to open a new manufacturing plant in Egypt.

It was inaugurated in Cairo on March 29 and follows similar moves by nonwovens manufacturers Pegas and RKW to set up new operations in the country.

These come in the wake of Procter & Gamble’s announcement in mid-2010 that it will build a new diaper manufacturing plant in Egypt, at a cost of US$176 million, in order to advance its localisation strategy.

Vast potential for growth in nonwovens usage per capita – and especially of hygienic disposables consumption – is perceived in the entire region of the Middle East and North Africa, which is collectively known as MENA and home to 325 million people.
