Shedding weight with StabilStrand
Monday, 06 February 2012

Johns Manville’s new StabilStrand is a specially-developed glassfibre nonwoven for engineered wood.

It can be used for reinforcing particle boards, MDF/HDF and plywood, providing excellent performance for lightweight furniture construction as well as digital and direct printing.

Such composite materials have a significantly higher flexural strength and E-modulus compared to conventional materials with identical weight. Particle boards, for example, can be two-to-three kilogrammes per square metre lighter and still meet the requirements of the P2 regulatory standard for them.
