Avery Dennison to market wearable sensors

The growing home and remote health care market promises to strip away many of the current costs and wasteful practices associated with medical treatment, while enhancing the quality of life for many people.
Now Avery Dennison Medical Solutions – a global leader in pressure-sensitive adhesive technologies for medical and hygienic disposable solutions – is partnering with Proteus Biomedical to commercialise patch-based wearable sensors for consumer applications.

Proteus has developed a US FDA 510K cleared and European Union CE Mark-certified personal monitoring device for continuous physiologic sensing and monitoring and its new partnership with Avery Dennison aims to reduce cost, enhance wearability and commercialise the technology. It incorporates multiple sensors to monitor important physiological parameters of interest to consumers and clinicians, including heart rate, physical activity and sleep patterns.
